At Home with Bounty

If you spill tea on your clothes, do not try to clean it off with bar soap or liquid hand soap. Tea contains tannin, and tannin stains are set-in by soap. You need a cleaner labeled as a detergent, such as dish detergent or laundry detergent, for tea stain removal. If the stain has already set, it will usually still come out with a bit of extra time and effort.

What You'll Need:

• Liquid detergent
• Warm water
• A small bowl
• A toothbrush or a small scrub brush
• Bounty paper towels
• A washing machine

Instructions:

1. Pour a tablespoon of detergent directly on the stain.
2. Use the brush to spread the detergent right to the stain's edge.
3. Allow the detergent to soak into the fabric fibers for about 15 minutes.
4. Fold three or four paper towels to form a thick, absorbent pad and slip the pad inside the garment, right behind the stain.
5. Pour one tablespoon of detergent in the bowl and add about 1/2-cup of warm water.
6. Use the brush to mix the water and detergent.
7. Begin gently scrubbing the stain from the outer edge, working in so you do not make the stain larger. Dip the brush in the detergent and water when the spot starts to look dry.
8. Fold a paper towel into quarters.
9. After scrubbing for about one minute, use the folded paper towel to soak up the excess water and detergent.
10. Keep dipping the brush in detergent water, scrubbing, and soaking up excess water until the tea stain removal is complete.
11. Put the garment in the washing machine and let it run through the regular wash and rinse cycles.
