At Home with Bounty

Many people inadvertently neglect to clean their cooker hood filters. Time and improper cleaning can cause a thick layer of grease to build up on the filter. Read on to learn how to clean a cooker hood filter that's been neglected.

What You'll Need:

• A dishwasher
• An oven
• Bounty paper towels
• 3 cookie sheets
• Oven mitts

Instructions:

1. Set two of the cookie sheets on the middle rack of your oven so they touch each other.
2. Set the other cookie sheet on the rack below, and place it directly underneath where the first two cookie sheets meet. This cookie sheet will catch any grease that should miss the other two, as you clean the cooker hood filter.
3. Carefully remove the filter from the cooker hood, and place it in the oven on top of the first two cookie sheets.
4. Close your oven door and turn the oven on, setting the temperature to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
5. As the oven heats up, the grease will begin to melt and fall onto the cookie sheets. It's important to keep an eye on this process, as oven temperatures and grease buildup can vary from oven to oven.
6. While you're waiting, place two layers of Bounty paper towels, one on top of the other, on your countertop.
7. Once the grease has melted off, turn off the oven and allow the filter to cool for a couple of minutes.
8. When learning how to clean a cooker hood filter, safety is paramount, so, using the oven mitts, carefully remove the filter, and place it on the Bounty paper towels.
9. Allow the grease on the cookie sheets to solidify and then dispose of it in your trash container.
10. Put the cookie sheets in the dishwasher for thorough cleaning.
11. Replace the cooker hood filter back into the hood.
