At Home with Bounty

The easiest way to clean up spills on the carpet is to use common household items. With a bit of patience and a few items from your pantry, you can have that spill cleaned up in no time. Make sure, though, that you try out this process on a small, inconspicuous section of your carpet in case it causes your carpet to discolor.

What You'll Need:

• 1/2 cup white vinegar
• 1/2 cup warm water
• A box of baking soda
• A roll of Bounty paper towels
• A small container with a spout, such as a measuring cup
• A broom and a dustpan
• A vacuum cleaner

Instructions:

1. This easy and inexpensive way to clean up spills on your carpet lets you use items from your pantry. Lay a few sheets of Bounty paper towels over the spill. Press them down to absorb as much liquid as possible. Continue doing this until you see no more liquid coming through fresh paper towels.
2. Mix together the vinegar and warm water. Gently sprinkle the mixture over where the spill was on the carpet. Let this sit for about 5 minutes. Then remove this liquid mixture the same way you did in step 1.
3. Sprinkle baking soda over where the spill was on the carpet. Let this sit, as it will absorb any leftover liquid and help remove any odor that may be left.
4. If you have a large amount of baking soda on your carpet, sweep up the excess and throw it away. If you leave too much and it is wet, it may clog your vacuum cleaner.
5. Vacuum up the rest of the baking soda.
