If you have spilled something on your carpet, carpet stain removers can help. Before you call professional carpet cleaners or order new carpet, try this simple method using items that you already have at home. Just mix the ingredients and use your iron to extract the stain.

What You'll Need:

• Ammonia
• Hot tap water
• A spray bottle
• An old towel
• An iron

Instructions:

1. Clean the spray bottle with hot water and allow it to dry completely.
2. Turn your faucet to hot and let it run for about a minute to get it as hot as possible. Measure out 1 cup of hot water.
3. Add the hot water to the spray bottle and add 1 cup of ammonia. Shake gently to mix the two liquids. If you would like, you can use scented ammonia to leave your carpet smelling fresh and clean instead of like ammonia.
4. Spray the carpet stain liberally with your homemade carpet stain removers mixture.
5. Turn on your iron and allow it to heat up while the ammonia and water sit on the carpet stain.
6. Place an old towel over the stain. You will want to use an old towel because you will basically be transferring the stain to the towel. It is even better to use a white old towel. You will actually see the stain transfer and you can bleach it to use it again.
7. Iron the towel over the stained carpet. The stain will transfer to the towel and out of the carpet in just a few swipes of the iron.
