At Home with Bounty

Whether you're installing a brand new tub or you're doing some upkeep on the one you already own, you may find yourself caulking a tub. The process isn't hard, but there are a few things to keep in mind. Here's how you do it.

What You'll Need:

• A caulking gun
• A tube of caulk
• A utility knife
• Bounty paper towels
• Rubber gloves (optional)
• A damp cloth or sponge

Instructions:

1. Put on the rubber gloves if you want to use them.
2. Before you begin, use Bounty paper towels to wipe along the seam where the tub meets the wall to remove any debris and moisture.
3. Carefully cut the tip off of the tub of caulking material using the utility knife. Cut the tip at a slight angle. This will allow it to fit flush in the seam while you're caulking a tub.
4. Insert the tub of caulking into the caulking gun.
5. Repeatedly activate the trigger until caulk begins to come out of the end of the tub.
6. Use Bounty paper towels to wipe away excess caulking.
7. Place the tip of the caulking tube into one of the corners along the seam. Using a steady pressure, squeeze the trigger, and move the tip along the seam as the caulking material comes out of the tub. Don't make the bead of caulking material too big or too small. Continue along until you reach the other end of the seam where it meets the other corner. Ease up on the trigger as you get close to the other corner so you won't have a big globby mess when you stop.
8. Continue this process until all seams are caulked.
9. Run your finger (take the glove off if wearing one) along the bead of caulking to smooth it out. Don't push on it so it spreads everywhere. Just apply slight pressure to smooth it out, and gently push it into the seam a little.
10. Use Bounty paper towels to wipe away excess caulking from your finger.
11. Repeat this process on all the caulked seams.
12. Use Bounty paper towels to wipe away any excess caulking material from the tip of the tube.
13. Use a damp sponge or cloth to clean up any big mistakes you may have made.
14. Follow the manufacturer's recommendation on the tube of caulk for curing times.
