At Home with Bounty

Add a summer-like touch to your decor while you protect your tabletop with watermelon felt coasters. The self-gripping back holds your drink in place while the felt absorbs condensation from cold drinks. Adult supervision required.

What You'll Need:

• A 12-inch square of bright green self-gripping non-adhesive shelf liner
• A 12-inch square of bright red felt
• A can with a 3-inch base
• A fabric marking pen
• A pair of safety scissors
• Waxed paper
• Spray craft glue
• Bounty paper towels
• Warm water
• Bright green fabric paint
• Black fabric paint
• An fine-tipped artist's paintbrush

Instructions:

1. Place the can on the shelf liner, in one corner, and use the fabric marking pen to trace around the bottom of the can.
2. Draw three more circles, one in each corner.
3. Draw four circles on the felt.
4. Cut out all the circles.
5. Spread out a layer of waxed paper.
6. Place the four felt circles on the waxed paper.
7. Spray a generous coat of glue that coats the top of each circle.
8. Pick up one shelf liner circle and hold it above a felt circle. Make sure the edges line up, and press the two pieces together.
9. Grab some damp paper towels to wipe up any glue spilled on clothing or the table.
10. Allow the glue to dry completely.
11. Turn the coasters over so the felt sides face up.
12. Open the green paint and paint the felt's edge all the way around each coaster to hide the red on the sides.
13. Paint a 1/4-inch rim around the top of each felt coaster with the green paint, to create watermelon rind.
14. Clean the paintbrush with warm water and use a paper towel to dry the paintbrush.
15. Paint eight tiny black seeds in the center part of the red felt. Paint seeds on each of your watermelon felt coasters and allow the paint to dry completely before using the coasters.
