Decoupage bookmarks are unique homemade gifts that almost anyone can create. What You'll Need:

• Photos
• Cardboard
• A hole punch
• Safety scissors
• Clear-drying non-toxic craft glue
• A medium-bristled paintbrush
• Yarn
• Bounty paper towels for cleanup

Instructions:

1. Cut a piece of cardboard into a 3" x 6" rectangle. Instead of buying new cardboard sheets, reuse the front of an old cereal box, cracker box, or shoe box.
2. Create unique homemade gifts by personalizing the bookmark craft. Choose a variety of photos that are meaningful to the recipient. For example, use photos of a family reunion for Grandma's gift, pictures of the little league championship game for Dad, or school pictures for a favorite friend. Make sure that the photos have small images that will fit on the cardboard rectangle.
3. Choose specific parts of the photos to use, such as portrait-style faces. Cut the photos apart into different shapes around the chosen parts.
4. Position the cardboard vertically. Arrange the cut photos on the front of the cardboard rectangle. Overlap the edges of the photos, filling in the entire area.
5. Gently lift each photo and place a dab of glue underneath to hold it in place.
6. Squeeze two quarter-sized dabs of glue on the photos. Use the paintbrush to spread the glue over the entire area. Set the decoupaged bookmark aside to dry for at least four hours.
7. Flip the cardboard over and glue more photos to the back of the bookmark. Repeat the decoupage process of spreading more glue over the photos. Allow another four or more hours for the bookmark to dry.
8. Punch a hole at the top of the photo project.
9. Cut three 12" pieces of yarn. Thread the yarn through the hole and tie them together (near the hole). Braid the length of the yarn and tie the pieces together at the end to complete the craft.
