At Home with Bounty

Looking for quick preschool Easter crafts for your class to complete? Try Easter chick paper plate baskets. Simply paint, cut, and glue paper plates together and attach pipe cleaners for handles. Your students will enjoy filling the baskets with sweet treats and trinkets. Adult supervision required.

What You'll Need:

• A white paper plate
• Bounty paper towels
• Washable, non-toxic yellow paint
• A paintbrush
• Safety scissors
• Craft glue
• Orange felt
• Googly eyes
• White pipe cleaners
• Green Easter grass

Instructions:

1. Place a white paper plate on top of Bounty paper towels.
2. Create the basket by painting the entire back of the paper plate using washable, non-toxic yellow paint and a paintbrush. Let the paint dry.
3. Turn the plate over to the white side.
4. Cut the plate in half with safety scissors. Place the newly painted right side on top of the left side and turn the plate counterclockwise, so the cut edge is on top.
5. Join the plate sides and bottoms together with craft glue. Avoid gluing the top of the plate, since this serves as the basket's opening. Allow the glue to dry.
6. Cut out two 1 1/4-inch triangles from orange felt for the chick's beak. Glue one beak on the right side of the basket near the top. Turn the basket over and glue the other beak on the left side near the top. Turn the basket over again.
7. Glue one googly eye 1 1/2 inches from the left of the nose. Turn the basket over and glue the other googly eye 1 1/2 inches from the right of the nose. Turn the basket over again.
8. Cut out two 3-inch triangles from orange felt for the chick's wing. Glue one wing to the middle of the basket. Turn the basket over. Glue the other wing to the middle of the basket.
9. Bend two white pipe cleaners in half. Glue one pipe cleaner to the back of the basket and one to the front about 1/2 an inch from the top.
10. Fill the inside of the basket with green Easter grass to finish these preschool Easter crafts.
