At Home with Bounty

Labor Day crafts for kids are fun and will teach them about this important holiday. Kids will enjoy gluing and painting with this easy craft and will want to make several of these flags. You will need a few supplies you can buy at a hobby shop or discount store. Adult supervision required.

What You'll Need:

• Craft sticks
• Craft glue
• White star stickers
• Craft paint: blue and red
• A dowel 1/8" in diameter and 12" long
• A nail file or emery board
• Two paintbrushes
• A small shallow container for water
• Bounty paper towels

Instructions:

• Set up a work space for Labor day crafts for kids, and cover it with Bounty paper towels.
• Glue 13 craft sticks back-to-back with glue and set them aside.
• Break six craft sticks in half. File off rough edges with a nail file or emery board. Glue two half-pieces together, making a total of six sticks.
• Paint seven sticks with red paint on both sides. Give two coats of paint for a bright color.
• Paint six sticks with white paint, using two coats of paint on both sides.
• Glue all the red and white stripes together on the sides, starting with red and ending with red. Allow the glue to dry.
• Paint the half-sticks with blue paint on both sides. Use two coats of paint.
• Glue the sticks together on the sides.
• Glue the group of blue sticks on the striped sticks, in the top left corner.
• Stick the white stars on the blue part to complete the flag.
• Paint the dowel with red paint.
• Glue the dowel on the left side of the flag.
• Clean any mess with Bounty paper towels.
